Cyprus has announced that it will be returning to Junior Eurovision for the 22nd edition of the Contest on Saturday 16 November. It will be the country's first appearance at Junior Eurovision since the 2017 Contest was held in Tbilisi, Georgia.
Maria Pissarides has been revealed as the talented young performer that will be representing Cyprus on what is going to be its 10th appearance at Junior Eurovision.
Cyprus debuted at the very first Junior Eurovision in 2003, with the song Mia Efhi performed by Theodora Rafti.
Since then, the country has finished inside the Top 10 on 4 occasions, with its highest result being 8th place - achieved in both 2004 and 2006.
Meet Maria Pissarides
Maria exhibited a passion for performance from a very young age, while in her home country of Cyprus. She is a big fan of the arts and, although her initial steps were in dancing, over time she has progressed on to musical theatre.
Maria has starred in leading roles across multiple shows to date, including an adaptation of Matilda. She also likes to write lyrics and has taken part in the European Radio 2023 songwriting and singing competition, achieving third place with her team.
At 11 years of age, Maria is currently a full-time student at a performing arts school in the United Kingdom and seeks every opportunity to progress and learn new skills.
Maria’s perfect day would include watching films, drawing, playing with her dog, eating chocolate and berries and spending time with her two brothers!
