Spain took part in the first ever Junior Eurovision back in 2003, when Sergio finished second with 'Desde El Cielo' (‘From Heaven’).

The following year they went one better as María Isabel won the competition with her entry Antes Muerta Que Sencilla (‘I’d Rather Be Dead Than Plain’).

The Spanish have celebrated numerous podium finishes at Junior Eurovision, but it was Sandra Valero’s most recent second place success with Loviu in 2023 that led Radiotelevisión Española (RTVE) to the opportunity of hosting their first Eurovision event since 1969.

The 22nd Junior Eurovision will take place in Madrid.
