Muireann McDonnell
Muireann McDonnell is 11 years old and comes from a seaside town called Skerries, near Dublin. She lives with her parents and three brothers and has a dog called Agnes. She will represent Ireland in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest with the song 'Suile Glasa' which translates as 'Green Eyes'.Muireann is a student of music theory and studies singing, piano and guitar. She enjoys writing her own songs has performed with well-known and popular Irish artists. In her spare time she enjoys playing sport with her brothers including Gaelic football with her club Skerries Harps.
Muireann is proud to present Ireland at Junior Eurovision this year and believes that her song is special. She is looking forward to making friends with people from so many different countries and would like people to visit Ireland as well. “We are a small country but we have so much to give. I love our music scene. We have so much original music and that is important to me,” she says.
What does Junior Eurovision mean to Muireann? “It is an amazing opportunity and experience. Even though it's a contest, I think we are all happy just to be a part of the Eurovision family. We all get a chance to show everyone the great music from our countries.
I am honoured and grateful to be given the opportunity to represent Ireland. Muireann will be 12 years old the day after taking part in Junior Eurovision, so she will be celebrating her birthday with cake in Georgia!
About the song writers and composers
James McGuire is a musician and songwriter hailing from Skerries, North County Dublin in Ireland. His songs can be heard on national radio as well TV. He also performed as part of his previous band, Darling. James is also a popular guitar tutor teaching over 50 children on a weekly basis. He is presently writing songs for various different charities. James is extremely proud that one of his star pupils, Muireann McDonnell, is representing Ireland in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest this year.
Robert McGuire is a pop and rap performer and music producer from Dublin, Ireland. After two of his videos garnered thousands of views on YouTube, he flew out to Atlanta, Georgia in America to record and release his debut single Supernova in 2013 and the follow-up EP The McGuire EP in 2014. He is currently producing music back home for various acts in Ireland.
