Efi Gjika
Efi Gjika will represent Albania at the 2018 Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Minsk with the song 'Barbie'.The 10-year-old Efi is a multi-talent who can sing, compose, play the piano, act, dance ballet and paint very well. Her song ‘Barbie’ is a family affair; Efi composed the song herself and her mother Hristina wrote the lyrics.
At the age of 6, Efi started out in the performing arts. In Albania’s capital, Tirana, she acted in the children’s theatre version of Alice in Wonderland and she played various roles in other musicals at the children’s art school. She also performed as a singer and actress in the musical Frozen. For the past three years, she has been studying canto and has participated in the National Children Festival in Shkodra with the song Arkitektja. In the future, Efi is planning to release two more songs that she has already composed.
The lyrics for Barbie were inspired by the solid relationship between Efi and her 36-year-old mother Hristina. Hristina supports Efi through thick and thin. She makes sure that Efi does not miss a single opportunity to advance in life, giving Efi the life that Hristina’s parents were not able to give her. In Efi’s deep blue eyes Hristina can see the reflection of all the feelings and emotions that she never managed to fulfil.
