Chanel Monseigneur
On 1 October, Chanel Monseigneur won the Maltese national selection for Junior Eurovision 2020 and will go on to represent Malta in November with the song 'Chasing Sunsets'. She is always singing, improvising, playing the piano, writing songs and reading, but recently she started writing short stories.
What are the favourite lyrics in your song?
Chasing sunsets here and far
as they follow the southern star
and they travel the world breathin’ out
it’s what their life is all about
what their life is all about
Because it gives a message of hope, to chase your dreams no matter how far and impossible they seem, and this is what life is all about – chasing one’s dreams!
How and when did you start with music?
My mum says I was always singing at home but I started vocal lessons when I was just turning 7 years. At my first vocal lesson, I did not know exactly what I had to do, but I just loved the idea of singing! And without knowing how, I was on stage one month later!
Who are your idols?
Demi Lovato, Sia, Kelly Clarkson and Faouzia.
How would you celebrate a Junior Eurovision victory?
There would definitely be a lot of crying, and that would be fantastic! I would surely celebrate with my family, including my grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins! And my whole team who is behind Chasing Sunsets, whom I love a lot 😊.
How do you 'Move The World'?
By doing little things every day, like being a good person, helping others, smile more, be positive. But also by reducing waste and help keep my Malta tidy.
