Nadezhda Misyakova
Fourteen year old Nadezhda Misyakova is from Minsk and is currently in ninth grade at school. She attends a gymnasium and a music school and enjoys playing the piano.Her talent in performing and composing songs was evident at a very young age, and when she was eight years old she started getting vocal lessons as part the ensemble ‘Zaranak’ at National Centre for Musical Arts named after Vladimir Mulyavin. These days she sings and performs in thevocal studio of Vasily Senkov.
Nadezhda is no stranger to Junior Eurovision having already participated twice in the qualifying rounds for the Junior Eurovision. Her determination to achieve her dream of representing Belarus at Junior Eurovision resulted in her writing the words and music this year’s entry which was voted the winner.
The song, ‘Sokol’ is based on the beautiful Slavic fairy-tale ‘Finist the Bright Falcon,’ in which the heroine, a girl called Maryushka - is looking for a bird – the Bright Falcon, who eventually turns into a handsome young man. To find the Bright Falcon Maryushka has to wear out three pairs of iron shoes, break three iron staffs and tear three iron caps. After surviving these adventures Maryushka finds her true love and of course they both lived happily ever afterwards.
She was helped in the arrangement of her song by famous Belarusian singer Uzari and the stage performance saw her working with well-known choreographer Olga Shamrova. The girls from Vegas Dance Studio (Alina Shvadronova, Elizaveta Anishchik, Karina Potapovich and Anna Duhovich) help Nedezhda bring all romantic and magic atmosphere of the song to the audience. The girls play an ancient national musical instrument called a ‘gudy.’
Nadezhda is supported by a large and friendly family and has many hobbies. She lives in the Belarusian capital with her mother Olga, father Andrey, sister Liza and her brother Zakhar. In her spare time, she loves meeting interesting people and listening to new music.
It is a nice coincidence that ‘Nadezhda’ means ‘Hope’ in English as she is working hard and looking forward to coming to Malta and meeting talented stars from different countries. As much as she’d like to do well, she believes that the most important thing is to perform with dignity and to represent her country at such a large competition on the highest level.
