With her song ‘Pepelny (Ashen)', Liza Misnikova will represent Belarus. This is 'Going to Gliwice', our feature counting down to the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2019 on Sunday 24 November in Gliwice-Silesia, Poland.

Liza's song is about changes, about looking at the same thing from different angles. "Someone thinks that grey is boring, but someone with a smile responds that it is silver and ashen. I believe that everything in life can be viewed in different ways because everything depends on yourself. Sometimes it is enough to change a small thing and life gets brighter."

Pepelny (Ashen) was written by Natalia Tambovtseva and Liza Misnikova and composed by Kirill Good.

About Liza

Liza is 14 years old, born on February 1, 2005, in Minsk, and studies at the Minsk Gymnasium № 56. She has been studying music for five years, including vocal classes and choreography. Despite the commitment she has made to her musical education, Liza does her best to make sure she makes time for other important things in her life. In her spare time, she likes to cook for family and friends, play the piano and go to the cinema with friends. "I always try to find time for travelling, studying foreign languages and mathematics, and spending evenings with my mom." Liza's idol is American singer Rihanna.

Liza's selection

The Belarusian national selection included 10 participants, this year all girls. Liza won the right to represent her country at the Contest after scoring a leading 20 points. Maria Ermakova took second place with 18 points and the Mapkey Tops came in third with 17 points. The points were determined by a combination of public and jury votes.
