Erik Rapp
My name is Erik Rapp and I am 15 years old. I live in the small community of Leksand with my mother, my father and my elder sister Elsa.As long as I can remember I have always loved all music in all ways. From singing in a choir, playing the saxophone and the piano, I have ended up as a performer, singing covers and my own songs on stage, by myself.
When I was 5 I started singing in a choir. I was the youngest one there and I had a hard time focusing and not getting carried away to the break where we got sweets.
One year later I started school. Luckily for me I had a teacher with a great passion for music. I think she made me grow a bigger interest for all ways of expressing in music and not only by singing.
In second grade it was almost mandatory to play the flute. That was the first time I played an instrument. Although playing the flute wasn't my biggest talent, it made me want to play an instrument.
When the flute lessons were over, there was something missing in my life. I decided to try playing the saxophone and I liked it! I continued playing the saxophone for two years, and then I added another instrument, the piano.
I stopped playing saxophone but I continued to play the piano. After two years of regular piano lessons, I knew how to play most of the chords and simple melody playing.
The year 2007 I auditioned for my first singing contest. From the audition I got to the finals, which made both me and the rest of my family happy. After that, I started competing at singing contests all over Sweden, not just for competing, but also for having stages to perform at, doing what I love!
It's getting serious now...
When I was 12, I saw a fantastic commercial on TV. It was promoting a music camp. The camp should be recorded and broadcast on an international channel and I was very exited. I recorded an audition video for the camp and... I was one of the kids who was chosen to go there! It must have been the luckiest day of my life.
At My Camp Rock, that the music camp was called, I learned a lot. For example, acting natural with cameras in your face and answering a journalist's questions properly. Above all, it was good fun!
In the beginning, I sang cover songs, but for about six months ago, I started to write my own music together with Johan.
The most important thing that I have before me now is that I will represent Sweden in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. The final will take place on 3 December in the Armenian capital of Yerevan.
It feels amazing that I get this opportunity and I'm really looking forward to go to Armenia!
