Kazakhstan is a rare example of a country that has competed in Junior Eurovision but not at the grown-up Eurovision Song Contest.

They joined the party in 2018 when broadcaster Khabar Agency was invited to participate as an associate member of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU).

During their time in the Contest, Kazakhstan enjoyed a lot of success, making an instant impact with their first entry Òzińe Sen (‘Seize the Time’) sung by Daneliya Tuleshova and placing 6th.

The country went on to finish in second place twice, thanks to Yerzhan Maksim with Armanyńnan Qalma (‘Don’t Stop Dreaming’) in 2019 and Karakat Bashanova performing Forever in 2020.
