The week of... Mariana Venâncio from Portugal

Mariana Venâncio represented Portugal in the 2017 Junior Eurovision Song Contest with the song 'Youtuber'. Today we look back at her week in Tbilisi.

Mariana Venâncio been showing a keen interest in music since she was a little girl, having joined her school’s choir at the age of three. At the same time, she began classical dance practice, which she kept doing until the age of seven, when she joined the Santo Amaro de Oeiras Choir.


Mariana jas always enjoyed watching musicals and, at age eight, she enrolled in EDSAE musical theater school. Before she travelled to Tbilisi Mariana recorded a special 60 second video, you can watch it below:


In October 2017, Mariana won the Juniors of Portugal (Juniores de Portugal) competition which gave her the opportunity to participate in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. You can watch her performance live on stage in the video below:


After Mariana's first rehearsal she visited our Junior Eurovision studio, and like the other participants, took part in our special Challenge Wheel.


Mariana was only Portugal's third Junior Eurovision representative. The last time the country took part was in 2007. Portugal won the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest and the competition will be held in Lisbon in 2018.
