Life After Junior Eurovision: Christina from Malta

Malta hosted the 2016 Junior Eurovision Song Contest for the second time in three years following Destiny's victory in 2015 with Not My Soul. Christina Magrin represented the home team in Valetta with the song Parachute, finishing a very credible sixth out of 16 countries. How was the experience for Christina and what advice does she have for future performers?
Thirteen year old Christina studies vocal technique under her mother's guidance, who is also a passionate musician and a lecturer by profession. Her first big break was during her rendition of the Albanian Eurovision Song Contest entry from 2012, Suus, where she caught the attention of millions of TV viewers and reached over 400,000 YouTube viewers in just a few days. She flew the flag for Malta in Valetta in 2016 and intends to pursue a career in music and drama.
What have you been up to since the contest?
Following the contest I was back at school, working hard to catch up with the lessons I missed whilst working on my Eurovision performance. I managed to do that fast enough and I am now preparing to launch another original song in the coming weeks, which forms part of my new album produced by various international composers.
What is your favourite memory from the week?
The Junior Eurovision week was a very special one to me, but the moment I will treasure forever is when I was on stage performing in front of that explosive audience. Their support energised me and I could feel a great connection with the audience. That experience was beyond words.
What advice would you give someone who is thinking about participating in 2017?
My advice for them is to let go and enjoy the experience. In the end the Junior Eurovision is a festival and the result is dependent on so many factors that are beyond you or your talent. You need to work hard at it but most important of all, enjoy it!
