The Netherlands’ new pop pair: Dancing with Sep & Jasmijn
18 November 2023 at 19:01 CETSep & Jasmijn tried to dance on their own, but it’s just more fun together. This duo originally auditioned for their national Junior Eurovision selection as individuals, but their voices went so well together that they paired up. And we’re so glad they did! They’ve even managed to hit the number 1 spot in the Dutch kids’ chart.
The poptastic Holding On To You was written by Junior Eurovision superstar Robert Dorn. He’s a music producer and songwriter who also wrote the Netherlands' 2022 entry for Luna, La Festa, which came in 7th.
This is a dance track all about holding on to a close friend, and waltzing into the future together. Just like their cha cha cha to Nice, after finding each other through music. Jasmijn loves to dance, and she’s won a lot of trophies at hip hop competitions, so we can expect her to bust out some serious moves.
Both Sep & Jasmijn want to pursue careers on stage, with Sep’s dream to be in a massive show like Aladdin. But both have got back up plans. Jasmijn likes the idea of working in styling or makeup, while Sep would become a psychologist or a paramedic.
Jasmijn is heavily into hip hop dancing, and this duo love to use a pop track on their social media videos — think Justin Timberlake’s Can’t Stop The Feeling and Tiësto & Tate McRae’s 10:35. They’re clearly fans of anything with a good beat, so it's obvious where the inspiration for Holding On To You came from. This is a pair who love pop.
Sep & Jasmijn say: “We will throw a dance party on stage!”
