Montenegro debuted as an independent nation at Junior Eurovision in 2014; previously they had participated as one half of the union between Serbia and Montenegro.

Their first attempt scored 14th position on the leaderboard thanks to Maša Vujadinović and Lejla Vulić with the ballad Budi Dijete Na Jedan Dan (‘Be A Child For The Day’).

On their return the following year, Jana Mirković took them one step further when Oluja (‘Storm’) finished 13th.

Coincidentally, 13th place is also the highest position they’ve achieved at the Eurovision Song Contest, thanks to Knez with the ballad Adio (‘Farewell’).
