Sandra Valero is bringing big love to the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2023 stage with her song ‘Loviu,’ representing Spain.

Sandra has a lot of ways to say “I love you” and no doubt Europe will say the same back. At just 12 years old, this young performer from Valencia has had plenty of experience in the limelight. After learning to sing from her grandmother, she’s starred in stage musicals, competed in music contests, and released three of her own songs: Y Digo Eh, Invierno En Mi Ciudad, and Como Maléfica. She’s even performed with her favourite singer, Aitana.

After nationwide auditions, a jury chose this singing, dancing star to represent Spain in Nice.

Loviu was written by a talented team of Spanish composers. It’s a catchy, upbeat song all about expressing love in different languages, which is fitting for a stage full of representatives from across Europe.

As well as singing and dancing, Sandra enjoys cooking crêpes and eating chocolate. So she’ll be right at home in France, the home of the crêpe. But the big question is: sweet or savoury?

Sandra loves watching her pop heroes on YouTube, so that she can learn from them and soak up their super powers. And maybe some of them will watch her back after her Junior Eurovision performance in Nice.

Sandra’s favourite song is the emotional hit Vas A Quedarte by Aitana, and she's always dancing to Aitana’s Berlín dance TikTok — another emotional song, but with a fresh Spanish beat. As a big fan of this pop superstar, Sandra was ecstatic to get tickets to Aitana’s concert for her birthday.

She also has a lot of room in her heart for María Isabel. Her Junior Eurovision 2004 winning song Antes Muerta Que Sencilla is the first tune Sandra learnt to sing. It’s an upbeat pop song with traditional Spanish vibes that celebrates fashion, and was released a couple of years after Sandra was born.

When we ask Sandra which 3 emojis would represent her song best, she says: “A cake, also confetti, and the party emoji, because it’s so much fun to dance to, so it’s like a party.”
