Hundreds audition for Irish national selection; Deadline looming

04 June 2015 at 15:57 CEST

Tomorrow at 17:00 BST (18:00 CET) the deadline for applications to take part in TG4's Junior Eurovision selection will pass. Many of the acts that have applied have already been seen, and an additional date has now been added for auditions due to the high volume of interest.

During May, nationwide auditions were held across Ireland. Auditions in Letterkenny, Claremorris, Dublin, Portlaoise and Cork saw hundreds of young talents perform, with 45 so far having been selected for the second round. An additional date for the first round has been scheduled in Dublin for any remaining applicants to show their singing skills.

The second round of auditions takes place on 19 July. "The 45 acts that have made the next round have already shown that they have the voice, now they need to show that they have the song" say the organisers of the national selection. "In round two, the applicants will sing their original Irish language songs, hoping to make it through to the televised national selection series on TG4."

There's still time to apply

If you or someone you know is still thinking about trying to represent Ireland in Junior Eurovision 2015, there's still time. Applications close tomorrow evening - so don't delay! You can find out more by clicking: here.
