Georgia close to revealing 2014 act

Georgian public broadcaster GPB received over 40 applications for Junior Eurovision 2014 by the time the submission period closed last week, the national television station has told JuniorEurovision.tv.

From these applications, 10 of the best were invited to GPB’s studios for a special casting round. A jury watched all of the auditions, and will internally select the best children to represent Georgia in Junior Eurovision. The announcement of who they are will be made within the next few weeks – and could even be sooner than that!

GPB's Natia Uznadze said "All of the kids were so talented; it was really difficult for the jury to make a decision. We are one of the most successful countries in Junior Eurovision, so we are going to try to keep this status. We hope Europe will like our entry in Malta".

Georgia ties with Belarus for the most Junior Eurovision Song Contest wins, both having two each. In their seven years of participation, Georgia has only once finished outside of the top five – and no lower than sixth place. Last year, The Smile Shop finished fifth in Kyiv.
