Anastasia & Ranina are flying the flag for Georgia at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2023 in Nice, France. With their uplifting song ‘Over The Sky,’ it looks like these are the heroes that Georgia’s been looking for.

Anastasia Vasadze smashed the talent competition Ranina 2023 and secured her spot at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. And what could be better than 1 upcoming pop star? 3 upcoming pop stars! Georgia has a lot of talent, and Anastasia’s fellow finalists Nikoloz Kharati and Oto Bazerashvili are also heading to Nice alongside Anastasia. Hence the name of the trio, Anastasia & Ranina.

These 3 performers have all been singing since they learned to talk. Anastasia has already taken the crown at 3 international singing competitions, and she’ll be hoping that Junior Eurovision makes it 4. She can also speak 4 languages, but this will be her first time in France. Bienvenue, Anastasia & Ranina!

Mebo Nutsubidze and Betkho are the Georgian music heroes behind Over The Sky, and they come with some serious super powers. Mebo is a musician, composer, and producer, who’s made a big mark on Georgia’s indie scene. He also hosts top TV music show Acoustics. Betkho, a producer, composer, and sound designer, has produced for plenty of Georgian artists and played a big role in developing the country’s music scene. Mebo and Betkho founded one of the country’s biggest audio production companies together, Heima Productions. And now they can add crafting Over The Sky to their list of achievements.

The band have a lot of dogs between them. Oto has a labrador called Binny and Nikoloz has 3 dogs named Bucho, Babilina, and Annie. But Anastasia might win the cute pet prize, as her two golden retrievers, Rexy and Lady, just had 5 puppies.

The trio’s taste in music is pure classic pop. Anastasia loves Bruno Mars, Oto is a big fan of Michael Jackson, and Nikoloz looks up to Stevie Wonder. We’re imagining a party playlist of 24K Magic, Thriller, and Superstition, although Oto would like to throw in some Frank Sinatra too — doesn’t sound like Somethin’ Stupid to us.

It’s lucky that Junior Eurovision is held at the end of November, because one of Anastasia’s favourite songs is Last Christmas, so she’ll no doubt hear it in the run up to the Contest.

Anastasia says: “Our song is about believing in yourself, also it’s about self confidence. Nothing is impossible if you believe.”
