Georgia's Mariam Bigavava heads to the big stage!
10 December 2022 at 15:00 CETBefore then, her competitive history was mainly limited to sports, as she’s an avid footballer and karate enthusiast!
‘Before, I mostly just sang for fun, or I was doing folklore concerts, and I decided to go for Ranina!’
Mariam says that she lives a pretty normal life for a twelve year old in Tbilisi. She loves her family, especially her dog Maze and parrot Shako, and her musical idols include Beyoncé, Billie Eilish, and Whitney Houston. Winning Ranina in June was a pretty big change for her, as suddenly her life was filled with rehearsals, recordings, and photo shoots as she worked on her song, I Believe.
‘My life has changed so much, and I like it! I like this situation…I think I was born to be on a stage and sing, so I’m very happy.’

Mariam threw herself into the process with excitement and joy, however, and can’t wait to share I Believe, with viewers from around the world. Performing here in Yerevan is a bit auspicious, considering that the last time that Junior Eurovision was hosted in Armenia, Georgia ended up taking home the win. Mariam takes that in stride, though.
‘Every contestant is a great singer, and I love them all! I’ll do everything I can to win, but I’ll have a good attitude.’
If you believe in Mariam's song for Georgia, be sure to vote for her at Junior Eurovision 2022!
