02 December 2013 at 22:09 CET

Landing at around 10pm local time, Gaia and the Maltese delegation were greeted by a huge crowd at Malta International Airport, which included Government Ministers. The crowd cheered as she appeared in the arrivals halls, some sounded horns, and then together they sang her winning entry “The Start” in unison as Gaia gave television interviews about her experience in Kyiv.

Nomination for Malta's highest award
This evening Gaia visited the Prime Minister of Malta. After congratulating her on victory, Prime Minister Dr Joseph Muscat announced that he and his Cabinet had unanimously agreed to nominate Gaia for the Gieh ir-Republika – the highest honour of merit that can be given to a Maltese citizen! The award will be conferred on 13 December, and Gaia will be the youngest person to ever receive it.

Television appearances
Today Gaia has made numerous television appearances as the Island of Malta celebrates her winning Junior Eurovision 2013, including being interviewed on TVM's main evening news.
