In just over two months the 2017 Junior Eurovision Song Contest will take place in Tbilisi, Georgia. Over the coming weeks we will be publishing video montages of previous entries from the participating countries. Today we look at one of the most successful countries in recent years, Malta!

Malta made its debut in the first ever Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2003. Malta has enjoyed mixed fortunes in the competition, finishing last in 2005 and finishing in the top five in 2008. The country took a short break from the contest after 2010 and returned in 2013, taking the trophy in the process!

Gaia Cauchi was Malta's first Junior Eurovision winner with the song The Start and the following year, in 2014, the Junior Eurovision Song Contest took place in Malta for the first time. Another top five entry followed that year and in 2015 Malta struck gold again with Not My Soul performed by Destiny Chukunyere. The 2016 Junior Eurovision Song Contest took place in Valletta where Christina Magrin flew the flag with her song Parachute where she placed sixth.

In November Gianluca Cilia will represent Malta in the 2017 contest which will take place in Georgia. His song will be announced in the coming weeks, whilst we wait, check out all the entries from Malta in Junior Eurovision below!
