That's a wrap! Day one of rehearsals complete

The 2017 Junior Eurovision Song Contest is well underway in Tbilisi, Georgia. Today the first eight countries took to the stage to rehearse. Albania's Ana Kodra was first up with Ireland's Muireann McDonnell closing day one in the Olympic Palace.

Georgia is shining bright as it hosts the 2017 Junior Eurovision Song Contest. Today the first eight countries rehearsed on the Junior Eurovision stage for the very first time. You can find all the photographs from the day on the galleries page. 

Albania

Albania's Ana Kodra had an early start as she was first to rehearse in Tbilisi's Olympic Palace. Her song is called Don't Touch My Tree. Albania will be the 10th song performed in the final of Junior Eurovision 2017.


Armenia

Last night Misha showed off his dance moves at the Opening Reception of the 2017 Junior Eurovision Song Contest and today in his first rehearsal he showed off his hover board skills too! Misha's song is called Boomerang and he appeared on stage holding a small boomerang - check out the video below! Armenia will appear fourth in the running order on Sunday.


Australia

Isabella Clarke brought sparkles to the stage for her first round of rehearsals. The Australian singer performed Speak Up alongside her group of backing dancers. Isabella is the third Australian representative at Junior Eurovision. You can see an impression of the first rehearsal in the video below. Isabella will perform 15th in the running order on Sunday.


Belarus

Helena Meraai was next up with her song I Am The One. The singer was dressed in her stage costume which featured a purple cloak. Helena's song was written by Rita Dakota who also wrote Russia's entry last year, Water Of Life. Belarus will host the 2018 Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Minsk so it will be a double celebration should Helena win on Sunday. Belarus will be song number five in the final.


Cyprus

Nicole Nicolaou was fifth to rehearse on stage in Tbilisi's Olympic Palace. Her song for Junior Eurovision is called I Wanna Be A Star. It was written by Constantinos Christoforou who represented Cyprus in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1996, 2002 and 2005! Nicole wore a gold sparkly jacket for her energetic performance today. The countries to open and close the show were drawn at the Opening Ceremony and Cyprus was selected as the opening song on Sunday,


F.Y.R. Macedonia

Mina Blažev was dancing through her rehearsal of her song Dancing Through Life. The singer wore a white catsuit for her first set of rehearsals. Mina's entry was written by the same team who wrote the Macedonian entry in 2016, Love Will Lead Our Way (Ljubovta ne vodi). Mina will perform eighth in the running order of the final on Sunday.


Georgia

Grigol Kipshidze has the honour of representing his country, Georgia, on home ground. The Tbilisi-born singer will perform Voice Of The Heart in the final on Sunday. Georgia will appear ninth in the running order. He was supported on stage by four backing singers dressed in white. Georgia has won the Junior Eurovision Song Contest more times than any other country. 


Ireland

Muireann McDonnell was the final participant to rehearse on the Junior Eurovision stage today. The 11 year old performed Suile Glasa alone on stage with her guitar. The song will be performed in Irish and Muireann will perform seventh in the running order on Sunday.

The first day of rehearsals for the 2017 Junior Eurovision Song Contest has come to an end. Tomorrow the remaining eight participating countries will take to the stage for the first time. We will be there to bring you all the latest backstage action throughout the day!
