The United Kingdom was one of the sixteen countries to participate in the first Junior Eurovision in Copenhagen back in 2003.

On that first outing Tom Morley took third place with his ballad My Song for the World, and the following year Cory Spedding would provide the country’s best result so far, finishing second with The Best Is Yet to Come.

Broadcaster ITV withdrew from the competition after 2005, allowing Welsh-language broadcaster Sianel Pedwar Cymru (S4C) to participate as Wales (a country that is part of the United Kingdom) for the Contests in 2018 and 2019.

The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) oversaw the United Kingdom’s return to Junior Eurovision in 2022 when Freya Skye topped the online vote and finished fifth overall.
