Jael's Australian journey at Junior Eurovision 2018

The young singer from Australia became third in the 2018 Junior Eurovision Song Contest on 25 November of this year. We look back on her whereabouts in the running up to performing her song 'Champion' on stage in the Minsk Arena in Belarus.

The Opening Ceremony

During the live event, all participants walked the red carpet and were introduced to the audience. We asked Jael what the best place in the world is in our 'Question Hat' video.

First time on stage

Jael's performance in Minsk included a sparkling dress, with which she took this year's slogan #LightUp to heart.

What do you think of ABBA?

In between rehearsals, we invited the participants to our studio for a couple of challenges. We asked Jael for our 'react to the Eurovision Song Contest' challenge, which included a video of ABBA. Will she recognize the Eurovision legends? 

Dress rehearsal

After rehearsal rounds, it was time for the dress rehearsal. The production team does a full run through of the show to prepare for the live show. We caught up backstage with Jael, where she gave us a tour of the Delegation Bubble:

After a busy week of rehearsing, Jael took the stage during the evening of 25 November to perform her song Champion. She placed third overall, and achieved first place with the jury! After the live show, we caught up with the young Australian singer to talk about her great achievement.
