It’s a ‘TEN’ for Radio!

13 November 2014 at 19:18 CET

Ten radio stations from Scotland, Wales, England, Ireland, Singapore, New Zealand and the United States are broadcasting JESC live.

Host of the radio broadcast, Ewan Spence, says that  "Junior Eurovision continues the fine traditions of the Song Contest, allowing the people of Europe to share their cultures, to create a sense of community across borders, and to continually push new techniques and methods of broadcasting. Radio is a thriving medium in many communities, and it is a delight to uphold the principles of the Song Contest while contributing to a spectacular show that will be heard by tens of thousands of new listeners around the world on November 15th."

Radio Six's Director of Programmes, Tony Currie, says, “We are thrilled to be partnering PBS Malta and Eurovision in bringing this exciting contest to new audiences. JESC is exactly the kind of programme that we have championed over the years, and we’re excited to be given the task of producing a radio version.”

Executive Supervisor of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, Vladislav Yakovlev, is delighted at the involvement and interest shown by these radio stations.  "We want to welcome our new fans and listeners from Scotland, Wales, England, Ireland, Singapore, New Zealand and the United States.  Radio is a powerful and effective way to promote the current and future singing talents of all the kids who are participating in this year's Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Malta and shows how interest in the event is growing."
