Introducing 2015: Viva Chiara and Martina!

04 November 2015 at 12:05 CET

After a fantastic first appearance in the competition, Italy comes back with Chiara and Martina Scarpari, winners of the Italian national final.

About the artist

The Scarpari sisters were born in Reggio Calabria in 2000. At the age of 5, their grandfather noticed their passion for music and at the age of 8 they met their mentor Christian Cosentino, who encouraged them to compete. In 2014, Chiara and Martina entered the TV show 'Ti lascio una canzone', aired on RaiUno, where they finished third. They also represented Italy in the New Wave Junior Contest in 2014, where they finished second and went back to this competition in 2015 as special guests. They have also participated in local and regional contests in Italy and have performed in Russia as well.

Chiara and Martina won the Italian national final on the 12th September (a special edition of 'Ti lascio una canzone') but the first voting was declared invalid since there were some technical issues. Some parts of the Final had to take place again the week after (on the 19th September), and they won it again with 67% of the votes, well ahead of the runner-up Giovanni Sutera Sardo.

About the song

Viva that thing you can't understand
Viva that summer that doesn't want to end
Viva Love
Viva freedom

"Viva" is a cheerful song about all the new emotions that appear when you become a teenager (love, secrets, doubts), and the song also includes a verse remembering their grandfather, who discovered their talent. Chiara and Martina will sing the song in Italian (except for a short sentence in English) and they wrote the song themselves together with Gigi D'Alessio, Adriano Pennino and Fabrizio Berlincioni.
