Fidan Huseynova selected as Azerbaijan's representative in Minsk

Azerbaijan's representative this year at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Minsk is Fidan Huseynova. The 12-year old was born in Moscow and was selected by local broadcaster ITV to represent her country in November.

Fidan currently is a 6th grade student at the Baku Oxford school, in addition to this she is taking vocal lessons. She participated in an exhibition of Dejan Kaludjerovic, organized by Yarat Modern Center and performed the famous song Je Suis Malade in French. Fidan has also performed with known artists like Lara Fabian, who represented Luxembourg in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1988) and Elnur, who represented Azerbaijan in 2008 and 2015.

In 2016, Fidan was awarded with a scholarship and her name was added to the 'Golden Book of Young Talents' by order of Azerbaijani President Aliyev. She also performed abroad in 2018: she went to Vienna and Italy. In Vienna, she performed at the 'Creating the Bridge via songs' concert and in Italy, Fidan performed at the Sanremo Junior Festival, where she was awarded 3rd place.

Not only did Fidan already show that she has a talent for singing, she also happens to be a very good chess player! She started taking chess lessons in 2010 and has won several awards in numerous tournaments. She even won a chess championship in Azerbaijan in 2017.
