Though a part of the United Kingdom, Wales participated in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in both 2018 and 2019.

Welsh-language broadcaster Sianel Pedwar Cymru (S4C) was responsible for the country's participation in the Contest, selecting two Welsh language songs via a televised national final: Chwilio am Seren (‘Searching For A Star’).

Their first participant, Manw, finished in 20th place with Perta, while Erin Mai took 18th place a year later with Calon Yn Curo (‘Heart Beating’).

Wales withdrew from the Contest in 2020, which left the door open for the BBC to return with a United Kingdom representative in 2022.
