Norway was one of the original participants of Junior Eurovision when it began in 2003.

Their debut performance came from 2U with the song Sinnsykt Gal Forelsket (‘Crazy, Crazy in Love’), which finished 14th.

Broadcaster NRK hosted the second Contest in the southern ski resort of Lillehammer the following year, which saw Irish boyband Westlife perform their cover version of Ain't That a Kick in the Head? as part of the show interval.

The best Norwegian result to date is thanks to Malin and their 3rd place anthem Sommer og Skolefri (‘Summer and School-free’).
