The first Junior Eurovision took place in the Danish capital of Copenhagen, back in 2003.

In fact, the very format for the Contest was based upon the Melodi Grand Prix Nordic, a song contest for Scandinavian children that itself was a youth-orientated spin-off from Denmark’s Eurovision Song Contest national final called Børne1erens Melodi Grand Prix.

To date, Denmark have participated on three occasions, with their first two entries finishing in 5th place.

Their best result came in 2005 when Nicolai Kielstrup finished 4th with Shake Shake Shake.
