Junior Eurovision fans #together - Part 3!

20 June 2014 at 13:59 CEST

Hi! I'm Lotte from Belgium, and this is how I got into the Junior Eurovision Song Contest.

I started watching in 2003 with the Flemish selection. I was only 8 years old but I still now all the songs of the Flemish selection because I have them on a cassette! I also watched the big show.

In 2004 it was the Walloon broadcaster’s turn to choose, so I didn't follow it because my French wasn't good enough. I did watch the big show, though.

Over the next years I got more in to Junior Eurovision. I watched a lot Dutch television, including a report of the Junior Songfestival. So since 2007 I have also been following the selection of the Netherlands. That way I got on the chat, which was on the Junior Songfestival website, and there I met there other people who were interested in JESC.

In 2010 I found the selection of The Netherlands better than Belgium, so since that moment I’ve followed The Netherlands much stronger - but that doesn’t mean I wasn't disappointed when Belgium withdrew from the contest.

In 2012 I wanted to go to Amsterdam, but I had exams so I couldn't go - but I hope I can go somewhere in the future. Since 2012 I’ve been very active on two forums: one in Dutch and one in English. This has made me try to watch all national selections across Europe.

I like that kids sing in their own language, but I prefer ballads the most, so I was very happy when Gaia won last year. I’ve also made some YouTube videos with my top eight songs from the national selections in The Netherlands and Sweden.
