Introducing 2015: Lena's song

10 November 2015 at 13:21 CET

About the artist

Lena made her musical debut at her younger brother’s christening, and hasn’t stopped performing since. Despite her young age, Lena’s got a powerful voice. Once, while she was practicing singing at home, a light bulb shattered right as she belted out a high note. She’s not quite sure whether it was a coincidence or if her voice really did cause a blackout, but it certainly didn’t stop her from practicing.

Audiences in Serbia got to know Lena through her participation in the talent show “Pinkove zvezdice”, where she ended up in fourth place overall. During the show, she covered songs in a number of genres, including hits by Eurovision alumnae Celine Dion, Bonnie Tyler, and Nina Badrić.

When she is not singing, Lena enjoys drawing, knitting, making crafts, creating hairdos, and acting.

About the song

“Lenina pesma”, which simply means “Lena’s Song”, was written by Lena alongside Leontina Vukomanović, who co-wrote “Beauty Never Lies” for Serbia’s 2015 Eurovision representative, Bojana Stamenov, as well as “Lane moje” for Željko Joksimović. The arrangement was coordinated by Dušan Alagić.

At the end of the day
I just want to keep the sorrow at bay
Together we can do it
Together we can chase the evil away

Lena says that her road trip back from the seaside this summer and seeing all the immigrants crossing borders seeking for a better tomorrow inspired her to write this song. She would like to see a better world around her where people help each other and work together in order to solve all the problems.
