01 January 2017 at 01:01 CET
2016 has now gone and a new year has begun. On behalf of the entire Junior Eurovision Song Contest family, we wish you a happy, safe and successful 2017!

The 2016 Junior Eurovision Song Contest saw an exciting change of format for the show. For the first time ever a panel of experts gave their votes. Previous Eurovision Song Contest entrants Jedward and Poli Genova also performed during the show which was broadcast live from Valletta, Malta.

The 2016 competition took place on a Sunday for the first time in a new time slot which was more suited to children and family viewing. The format change was successful in achieving higher than average ratings for the broadcast channels. Overall the 2016 Junior Eurovision Song Contest attracted its biggest audience for four years!

Over the coming months we will be announcing exciting news about the 2017 Junior Eurovision Song Contest and we will also be catching up with the participants of the 2016 Junior Eurovision Song Contest to find out what they have been up to since the competition.

Happy new year and best wishes for 2017 from the entire Junior Eurovision Song Contest family!
