Going to Gliwice: Meet Darija Vračević from Serbia

With her song ‘Podigni Glas (Raise Your Voice)', Darija Vračević will represent Serbia. This is 'Going to Gliwice', our feature counting down to the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2019 on Sunday 24 November in Gliwice-Silesia, Poland.

For her Junior Eurovision song, Darija teamed up with musicians Aleksandra and Leontina to create an inspiring composition. She came up with an idea for the lyrics, touched by current developments in the world. With Podigni Glas (Raise Your Voice), Darija wants to raise awareness regarding these issues. Through her music, she is prompting us to wake up and start caring about each other and the planet we live on. Darija says: "My song is about the catastrophes that are happening on our planet. I am very touched by all of this, because I think that adults should make more efforts to prevent it. I want to encourage everyone to think about it."

Podigni Glas was written by Leontina Vukomanović Pat and composed by Aleksandra Milutinović.

About Darija

Darija is 11 years old and was born in Belgrade on 27 October 2007. The straight-A elementary school student attends music school as well, studying the piano. Besides going to school, Darija has taken part in several music festivals in Serbia and abroad.

Darija is not just a singer; she launched her acting career with a role in the children's musical Tesla and the Battle at the Magnetic Field. She has also done dubbing for Disney/Pixar productions, Paramount and Nickelodeon. Darija also loves to dance. She is a member of the pro-team and has won 2 silver and 5 gold medals at dance festivals in Serbia.

Not only does Darija want to encourage understanding the message she will send through her song, she is also very excited to represent her country in the best way possible: "I hope to find friendships for a lifetime. But I am also very much looking forward to a great new experience. I will visit a new city, meet new people and take part in an amazing music competition."
