Over 70 talented singers entered the competition to represent Germany. Now, 5 of them have been selected to perform for the casting jury.

Germany announced their first ever participation at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in July, becoming the 40th country to make its debut. Since then, talented singers from all over Germany have sent in their application to broadcaster KiKA. The following hopefuls have been shortlisted:

Linnea May (13, from Friedrichsdorf in Hessen)
Malaika (14, from Herrsching in Bayern)
Davit (12, from Neustadt in Rheinland-Pfalz)
Leroy Kay (13, from Neuruppin in Brandenburg)
Susan (13, from Berlin)

They will now perform in front of a professional casting jury consisting of music Producer Martin Haas, Show and vocal coach Michele Huesmann, Max Mutzke, who represented Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2004 and Levent Geiger who will compose the German Junior Eurovision song this year.

The jury will then decide which of the final 5 will go on to become Germany's first ever JESC artist.

You can follow the process on the 1st and 2nd of September on KiKA in the show ‘Junior Eurovision Song Contest - Das Casting’ at 20:00. The trends and lifestyle show ‘KiKA LIVE’ is also providing regular updates on the selection for this year's Junior Eurovision Song Contest too.
