This weekend sees delegations from 17 countries come together in Valletta, Malta for the 2016 Junior Eurovision Song Contest. Malta last hosted the competition in 2014. Today we look back at the first Junior Eurovision Song Contest to take place in Malta.

The 2014 contest travelled to Malta following Gaia Cauchi's victory in Kyiv the previous year. 16 countries gathered for Junior Eurovision 2014 which took place in the Malta Shipbuilding in Marsa, near Valletta. For the first time in the history of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest there was only one presenter, Moira Delia. The theme for 2014 was #together.

Slovenia, Montenegro and Italy all made their respective debuts in 2014. Armenia took third place and Bulgaria finished second. The night belonged to Italy's Vincenzo Cantiello who won with his song Tu primo grande amore.

Malta staged a slick show in 2014 and in just over a week the country will shine once again when the 2016 Junior Eurovision Song Contest takes place in Valletta!
