14 November 2011 at 10:01 CET

From the 6th of May until the 10th of June, regional castings for the Ukrainian national selection took place in Ivano-Frankivsk, Donetsk, Odessa and Kyiv.

15 artists from each casting (with 18 from Kyiv) were selected to take part in the Semi-Final, which took part during the weekend of the 11th of June at the NTU studios in Kyiv. But as a surprise move, 20 qualified, instead of 15.

All 20 finalists at the national selection spent two weeks preparing their performances, before the final show, while having a great time together in the best children's camp of Ukraine.

So, it was even harder for the eventual winner to take the trophy home. But Kristall managed! The song Kristall will perform at the 9th Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Yerevan, the capital of Armenia, on behalf of Ukraine is conveniently titled Europe.
