Ukraine has participated in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest since 2006, and in 2012 10-year old Anastasiya Petryk won the event. Ukraine has also hosted the contest twice in 2009 and 2013. Last year Anna Trincher finished in 11th place with the song Pochny z sebe (Start with yourself). Ukraine also won the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest with the song 1944 performed by Jamala.
The semifinal of Ukraine's 2016 selection for Junior Eurovision will take place on 13th August in NTU's studios in Kyiv. The best entries for the national final will be selected by the jury and the final is scheduled to take place in September. The exact details will be announced later on the official website of NTU.
