Meet the experts: Christer Björkman from Sweden
20 November 2016 at 16:00 CETChrister is no stranger to the world of Eurovision. In 1992 he represented Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest and revamped Sweden's national selection, Melodifestivalen, which has become one of the most popular shows of the year in Sweden. Last year he was on the jury of the Maltese national selection for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest when Destiny was chosen to represent Malta.
"Last year I was on the jury in their national selection, so I was one of the ones who selected the winner, Destiny, so I said yes when PBS Malta asked me to be a part of the show. I said would love to be on the expert panel. With Junior you have these powerful voices and a variety of songs but you think of it differently compared to the Eurovision Song Contest, they are two different shows".
Christer considers the Junior Eurovision Song Contest to be the perfect format for spotting fresh talent and explained what he will be looking for in the show. "On the night I will be looking for the voice and the artistry. I will be looking for the voice of the artist that has the potential to grow. It’s more about raw talent. I will be looking for a convincing act that impresses me, or an artist that can convey the message of their song".
