Malta is ready for Junior Eurovision!

Malta is getting ready to host the 2016 Junior Eurovision Song Contest. Host Broadcaster PBS has moved into the Mediterranean Conference Centre in Valletta, the venue for the 2016 contest. Final preparations are underway and this weekend stand-in rehearsals will take place ahead of the arrival of the delegations. This is the second time in three years that Malta will host the Junior Eurovision Song Contest.

Delegations from around Europe and beyond are due to arrive in Malta this weekend to begin a week of rehearsals for the 2016 Junior Eurovision Song Contest. In a change of format, the 14th edition of the competition will take place on a Sunday for the first time. The afternoon slot was chosen as it is considered to be family prime time viewing. 

The following countries will participate in the 2016 Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Malta:

  • Malta (PBS)
  • FYR Macedonia (MKRTV)
  • The Netherlands (AVROTROS)
  • Poland (TVP)
  • Russia (RTR)
  • Serbia (RTS)
  • Ukraine (NTU)

Earlier today the Dutch group, Kisses, released a photograph which captured their mood ahead of the journey to Malta.

We will be bringing you updates of the rehearsals and preparations, including exclusive interviews with the participants, throughout the week. Rehearsals for the 2016 Junior Eurovision Song Contest will begin on Tuesday 14th November.
