Madrid 2024: A sneak peek at the Junior Eurovision stage
09 November 2024 at 12:05 CETAt the Caja Mágica in Madrid, we can already see the very first glimpse of the stage that our 17 performers will take to at the 22nd Junior Eurovision Song Contest.
On Saturday 16 November, 'Let's Bloom' will be in focus, as the Junior Eurovision stage channels the theme of the Contest in 2024.
The primary feature of the set in Madrid is a large, vertical LED screen, standing 19 metres high, providing a monumental backdrop for the stage.
The circular stage layout, 16 metres in diameter, integrates a circular floor screen of 10 metres in diameter, allowing the artists’ performances to fully embrace the space.
On both sides of the main screen will be two large, self-illuminated vertical gardens, each standing 14 metres high. The stage will blend with the audience area in the orchestra pit, creating an immersive experience for all. Two 42-metre-long walkways will extend from the stage, adorned with vertical gardens.
In a new twist for Madrid 2024, the Green Room, where artists await their results, will be integrated into the stage itself. For the first time, there will be two Green Room spaces, one on each side of the stage. Each will feature petal-shaped seats in various colours, providing a welcoming area close to the stage where performers can watch and celebrate with their fellow performers.
Madrid 2024 in numbers
About 800 people have worked at full capacity in Madrid throughout the construction of the stage, awaiting the arrival of the 17 participating delegations for their first rehearsals.
A total of 60 trucks have transported all technical equipment to the Caja Mágica. The setup includes over 800 state-of-the-art lighting fixtures, 20 kilometres of cabling, 175 motors, and 11 generators to power the live broadcast of the event.
Screens play a central role in the stage design, with a monumental 19-metre-high, 11-metre-wide vertical main screen and a floor screen spanning 100 square metres.
