Ireland chooses Anna Kearney

Irish broadcaster TG4 aired Ireland's national final 'Junior Eurovision Éire' where Anna Kearney was crowned the winner. She will represent Ireland at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2019 in Gliwice-Silesia, Poland, with her song 'Banshee'.

After 4 heats and a semi-final, the national final revealed that Anna Kearney is the country's choice for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2019. Anna won the competition with her rendition of Linda Martin's Why Me.

Anna's Junior Eurovision Song Contest entry Banshee is written by Niall Mooney, Fiachna O Bhraonáin, Anna Banks and Anna Kearney. It is composed by Cyprian Cassar, Jonas Gladnikoff and Daniel Caruana.

About Anna

Anna Kearney is 13 years old from Foxrock in County Dublin. A seasoned performer, she has already appeared on Broadway and at the National Concert Hall in Ireland. Anna is not the first in her family to aspire towards the Eurovision. Her mum Eileen performed on the Eurovision stage with River Dance in 1994.

Ireland in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest

Ireland made their first appearance at the Contest in 2005 in Sofia, Bulgaria. That year, Aimee Banks finished 12th place with the song Réalta Na Mara. The country had its best placing in 2016, when Zena Donnelly came tenth. Last year Taylor Hynes came in 15th with IOU.

Junior Eurovision 2019 will be Ireland's fifth appearance at the Contest.
