It’s just 123 days until Europe’s finest young singing talent will descend on the island of Malta for the twelfth Junior Eurovision Song Contest. Over a month since the competitions Steering Group were left speechless by host broadcaster PBS’ vision for the event, preparations continue both in Geneva and Malta in the build up to the show.
“Judging by the comments and questions we’re receiving on social media, there is already a big interest in Junior Eurovision 2014” says Executive Supervisor Vladislav Yakovlev. “This has been matched by a number broadcasters, who are enthusiastic about joining.” On the subject of participants, he explains: “I know everyone is eager to find out how many countries exactly will be taking part, but we still have to continue some discussions before we can reveal the total number. Even some countries that have said elsewhere that they won’t take part are not ‘case closed’ for us, and we continue our dialogue.”
Meanwhile in Malta, preparations continue to be ahead of schedule and continue in earnest. Excitement is growing for the event not only on the island itself, but also in the participating countries – especially new joiners Italy!
