Format changes for the Junior Eurovision 2016

The EBU's Executive Supervisor of the Eurovision Song Contest and Head of Live Events, Jon Ola Sand, stated that that EBU had been working hard to attract more broadcasters to the event. The change in format means that the event will be more suitable for a younger audience. He also confirmed that professional and children's juries will determine the winner.

Anton Attard, the Executive Producer of the 2016 Junior Eurovision Song Contest revealed PBS Malta's ambitious plans to host the event in multiple locations across Valletta. Tonio Portuguese, Chairman of PBS explained the importance of hosting the event for both Malta and the national broadcaster. 

Destiny, the winner of Junior Eurovision 2015 for Malta also performed the theme song for the 2016 event, Embrace. She explained to the assembled press that her life completely changed since winning the contest which was held in Bulgaria last year.
