First look at the 2016 stage!

10 October 2016 at 11:00 CEST

In 2016 the Junior Eurovision Song Contest will take on a Sunday for the first time. The time of the broadcast has also been brought forward and will begin at 16:00 CET on Sunday 20th November which is considered family prime time. The decision has been supported by member broadcasters who see the new time slot as more suitable for the target audience and their families.

The core of the contest will take place in the Republic Hall of the Mediterranean Conference Centre. PBS Malta, which also staged Junior Eurovision in 2014, will create a modern, relevant and fast-paced production which showcases the capital city, Valletta. The delegations and the international press will have the opportunity to admire the beauty of other parts of the Mediterranean Conference Centre, which will provide all the services related to the production.

The theme song for 2016, Embrace, will be recorded by all participants and performed during the live show in November. The theme Embrace encapsulates the core values of the competition; Connectivity, Diversity, Creativity and Respect.
