Countdown to Tbilisi: Meet Mariana from Portugal

Mariana Venâncio will represent Portugal in the 2017 Junior Eurovision Song Contest with the song 'Youtuber'. This year marks Portugal's first appearance in Junior Eurovision since 2007.

Mariana was born in 2006 and has shown a keen interst in music since she was little. She even joined a choir when she was just three years old! In addition to singing she also took dance lessons before joining the Santo Amaro de Oeiras Choir when she was seven. 


A fan of musicals, at the age of eight Mariana joined a musical theatre school where she participated in a new project called the Young Actors Company (Companhia de Jovens Atores). Through her work in the theatre, Mariana also participated in The Voice as a so-called mini mentor.


Mariana loves to learn other languages ​​and has been attending English classes at the British Council for two years. In addition to performing in musicals, she likes to play with her friends and siblings in her free time. Mariana also enjoys watching films, riding her bicycle and going to the beach. Her biggest dream is to become an actress and singer in musical theatre but if she’s not able to achieve that, she would like to become a kindergarten teacher.
