Countdown to Tbilisi: Get to know Georgia's Grigol

Grigol Kipshidze will represent the home team Georgia at the 2017 Junior Eurovision Song Contest. The competition will take place in the Georgian capital, Tbilisi, on Sunday 26th November. Grigol's song for Junior Eurovision is called 'Voice of the Heart'.

Grigol Kipshidze was born in Tbilisi August 2005 and is currently in the seventh grade of school. He recent graduated from Tbilisi Art School where he studied piano. He has also graduated from the National School of Folklore where he studied from 2011-2015. In 2014 he entered the Vocal Academy School in Tbilisi.

Despite his young age Grigol has participated in numerous competitions, including piano tournaments, finishing in the top three on several occasions.Aside from music, Grigol's hobbies include playing the piano and guitar as well as dancing.

Georgia at Junior Eurovision

Georgia made its debut in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2007. In 2008 Georgia won the contest for the first time with the song Bzz performed by Bzikebi. In 2011 the group Candy notched up Georgia's second victory with the song Candy Music. This was followed by a second place in 2012. Last year Mariam Mamadashvili won the competition for Georgia with the song Mzeo, setting a new record for Junior Eurovision since no other country had won the contest three times. 

The 2017 Junior Eurovision Song Contest will be the first Eurovision event ever to be held in Georgia. 16 countries will participate in the final which will take place on Sunday 26th November.
