Spain’s new 'cantista': Chloe DelaRosa, nice to meet ya!

It was a record-breaking year for Spain when broadcaster RTVE opened the casting to find an artist for Junior Eurovision — the number of applications was double that of 2023.
Chloe Delarosa was one of them, and she impressed the judges enough to get the spot at Madrid. Once the young star had been picked, the songwriting team got to work on Como La Lola, with Chloe playing a part in the writing too.
Chloe’s been in the limelight before. At just three years old she was up and dancing on stage with her musician father, and in more recent years she’s shared her music across social media.
She got a lot of attention for her cover of Dani Martín’s Como Gustaría Contarte, and she’s melted hearts through Instagram via duets with her dad.
Spain’s Junior Eurovision 2024 artist is only 9 years old, but she knows exactly who she wants to be. In her song Como La Lola, she dreams of being a 'cantista', which is a combination of the words for singer ('cantante') and artist ('artista') in Spanish (or let’s call it a portmanteau, in honour of France winning in 2023).
For the 2024 Contest, Spain have called on some of the musical talent behind their Junior Eurovision 2023 entry Loviu, which was performed by Sandra Valero and finished second behind France’s Zoé Clauzure. Songwriters Alejandro Martínez, David Parejo and Luis Ramiro worked with Chloe herself to put Como La Lola together.

The 'Lola' of the song is all about flamenco legend Lola Flores. Chloe also sings about some of her other music idols — Taylor Swift, Karol G, Rosalía, Olivia Rodrigo, and Shakira. That’s a lot of pop inspiration.
Chloe loves dancing, and even says that if she could describe herself in one emoji, it would be the flamenco dancer. She spends a lot of her spare time watching dancing tutorials online — so we can expect some great choreography in her Junior Eurovision performance.
This star is a huge fan of Spanish singer Abraham Mateo, and particularly loves his song Maníaca, an ode to the 1983 hit Maniac sung by Michael Sembello in the film Flashdance.
Chloe is inspired by his vocals and lyrics, and the upbeat pop rhythms have clearly influenced her own music.
Aside from her friends, family and the whole of Europe, Chloe will have a few special fans watching the show — her two dogs, two cats, fish and birds.
One of her cats was a stray that she found on the street, and she gave him a new home. And one of her birds has the coolest hair-do in the history of Eurovision. Chloe loves taking care of animals just as much as she loves singing and dancing.
With the theme of Junior Eurovision 2024 being 'Let’s Bloom', Chloe definitely got the memo. She’s brightening up the world with her music, and her greatest wish for herself in the future is that she’ll be a happy person.
